All the new Monster High dolls now have the disastrous “cute” new face-up. On the left here we see Spectra Vondergeist with her aloof expression and sculpted cheekbones. On the right is a new ghost doll, Ari Hauntington: note the big soupy eyes and the blank smile. A nicely made doll, but bland and characterless. Spectra has been discontinued. Ari is the future of ghostliness at Monster High.
[gallery] The new Skelita Calaveras doll. Hugely expensive and not really worth the money; apart from the fancy head decorations, the only extra is a rather elaborate stand. Mattel are advertising her as extra poseable and strongly implying that she is taller than the standard doll. She is exactly the same size as the standard Skelita and not particularly well made. The first doll I bought had to be exchanged because the left arm was locked into position; this one is better, but still suffers from loose hip joints. Still, she put on a good show for Hallowe’en.

My favourite doll, Nukes, getting into the festive spirit.

Two distressed dollies, but one of them is a Grail doll for me (Dawn of the Dance Deuce) so the imperfections don’t matter at all.

Meanwhile, in the garden, Louise The Doll Who Went Mouldy continues to moulder.

The Ever After High wings from C A Cupid fit Monster High dolls. This pleases me hugely. The cute headdress is E A High, too.
